Private Pay – Most common means, privately through savings or by family and friends.
Assets – Using the equity in you or your loved one’s home or liquidating other assets.
Long-Term Care Insurance – Most insurance policies include “custodial care” to help offset senior living expenses. Please consult with your insurance professional for a thorough explanation and a better understanding of what your policy coverage includes.
Veterans Benefits – there are a few different programs, each with different qualifying factors to be considered. If you or your loved one was a service member or the spouse of a service member, we recommend going to this website for additional information: https://www.va.gov/pension/aid-attendance-housebound/.
Unfortunately, Medicare does not cover the cost of senior care associated with assisted living services. Please see our “How do people pay for senior living costs?” question above for additional information.
Senior living is unique, and the picture looks a little bit different for each. When done correctly, it empowers seniors to maintain as much of their independence as possible. Through individualized care that has been custom tailored to each senior, it strives to promote and retain each senior’s independence as much as possible. Senior living is a safety net for those needing additional assistance with one or more of their activities of daily living – bathing, cleaning, meal preparation, medication management and personal care.
Researching senior care can be overwhelming and stressful for seniors and their families to navigate. There are especially important considerations to be mindful of. Would you describe yourself or your loved one as more extroverted or introverted? Do you prefer to be part of a larger crowd or a smaller, intimate group of people? Another equally important consideration is “what is your caregiver-to-resident ratio?” This will give you a better understanding of how readily available help is. Be sure to ask whether or not their administration, maintenance, or sales staff are being considered in this ratio.
One caregiver is always on staff for 6 residents. This is a very appealing and unique draw to senior care within the residential assisted living model. This means that you or your loved one receives much more 1:1 care tailored to individual needs and wishes. Larger institutional “big box” facilities simply cannot match this ratio or provide the extent of 1:1 care that we can.
Assisted living is for individuals who need help with one or more of their activities of daily living. This may include a need for personal assistance with bathing, cleaning, household chores, meal preparation, medication management and personal care. Nursing homes provide all of the above-mentioned AND onsite full-time medical care.
Our philosophy is to provide families with an all-inclusive monthly rate. This gives our families peace of mind and allows for predictable, stable monthly costs for your loved one’s care. Many senior communities utilize a base rate model, in which rates will continue to increase as the level of care needs increase.
Three home-cooked meals a day, snacks, housekeeping, laundry, towels/linens, assistance with activities of daily living (dressing, eating, grooming, medications, showering), activities, and more. Families are responsible for all personal care-related toiletries and incontinence care items.
Our care home provides three home-cooked, nutritious meals and snacks daily. There is no need to travel long distances to walk to a cafeteria for meals while in a residential care home setting. Nutritious snacks and beverages are readily available to our residents at any time.
We coordinate fun activities based on our residents’ preferences while considering their interests and needs. We incorporate card games, word searches, arts & crafts, movies, guest entertainers, music, pet therapy, and exercise routines into our daily life to help keep our senior community’s bodies and minds agile.
Our private bedrooms come fully furnished with a bed, dresser, nightstand, bedding/linens, and a TV (cable service is provided).
We welcome our residents to bring their own personal bedroom decorations, such as a favorite artwork, family photos, or quilt to make their bedroom feel just like home!
The best suggestion would be for you to schedule a visit. This would allow you and your loved one to come and see the home firsthand – to meet our caregivers and the other residents. Our senior care home provides our residents with much freedom and independence to still do as their hearts desire. We do encourage our residents to stay in close touch with their family and friends. In addition to coming to visit, our care home provides a community-shared phone service and a video chat tool that may be used.
Each resident will have their own emergency call system monitored 24/7. In addition, we have a trained caregiver onsite at all times who knows how to handle emergent situations as they arise immediately. Our care home also offers a security monitoring system to provide another layer of safety and peace of mind. We also have a whole house backup generator if power happens to be lost.
We encourage our residents’ families/friends to come and visit their loved ones between the hours of 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM to ensure there is a quality visit. Alternate times outside of these hours may be arranged if needed.
Yes. We have an electronic medication management program that is specifically designed to help prevent medication errors. We have also partnered with a local pharmacy to help reduce delayed medication deliveries and to provide timely medication administration. Anchored Heart caregivers are cross-trained in medication administration safety by a licensed registered nurse.
While this is not a standard service we offer, you may choose to work with one of our exceptional care partners.
